This is a superb showstopper of a ring! Featuring an incredible opal which displays the most magnificent colour-play, bordered by 14 old cut diamonds arranged in a halo around the magnificent gem. The face of this ring is set in silver and is supported by an 18ct Gold band.
The ring is currently a UK size N 1/2 and a US size 7, but it is resizable. The band is not marked, but give its silver setting and the antique cut diamonds, I would date it to the early Edwardian era.
Flashing a vast array of colours, most noticably, blue, purple and bright orange as the light hits its core, this other-worldly opal has to be seen to be believed!
Please have a look at the pictures and video and dont hesitate to get in touch if you require any further information.
Opal is the birthstone for October ... The name opal is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning “precious stone,” and later the Greek derivative “Opallios,” meaning “to see a change of color.”
Opals are sometimes referred to as the Queen of Gemstones and are considered a semi precious stone. They are also said to be Queen Victoria’s favourite gemstone, and they were extremely popular throughout her reign.
Opals are thought to encourage freedom and independence and creativity.
