تنتحر يسرا في ظروف غامضة بعد أن تودع مذكراتها لدى جارها الذي يعمل أجيراً كتابيّاً موصيةً إيّاه بالبحث عن ابنها هادي. وصيّة تدفع بالأجير إلى الانتقال إلى السنغال حيث عاشت يسرا مع زوجها نبيل، التاجر اللبناني، مقتفياً آثار قصّة طويلة وشائكة.
