Mt. Iwate, the imposing 2,038-meter-high peak that overlooks Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi where all Grand Seiko mechanical models are made, serves as inspiration for the modern Hi-Beat 36000 reference SLGH013. The timepiece features a light blue dial that expresses the distinct texture of the snow on Mt. Iwate as it melts in the spring.

The combination of a flat dial and a wide opening lets light pour in and create an ever-changing background against the razor-edged, multi-faceted indexes and the hour and minute hands show their brilliance.

The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy that features even greater corrosion resistance than what is typically used across the watch industry today. It has a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) value 1.7 times higher than that of the grade of steel used in most high-class watches. Visually, it also has a brilliant white hue that enhances the beauty and Zaratsu finishing of the watch. This is the first continuous production Grand Seiko watch to feature Ever-Brilliant Steel. 

The case measures 40mm across and 11.7mm in thickness, making it thinner than many of the modern 44GS models offered in the past. This is due to the reduced thickness of the 9SA5 caliber itself, which has a power reserve of 80 hours, an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day, and a rate of 36,000 bph.
