As a lover of antique Dutch darning samplers, I was especially delighted to find this Dutch notebook dated 1906, which contains a series drawings/diagrams, together with handwritten notes, detailing methods for executing a series of darns. As abstract drawings, rendered in colored pencil, they're quite lovely things (as are darns themselves!), but understanding each drawn line and loop as representing a thread I think makes them even better. Pretty subtle, and my photos don't help at all, but uncommon to find and pretty special feeling. 

 8 1/2" x 6 1/2", 15 leafs, 13 all or partially filled; pages with drawings are pictured, though I've not photographed all pages with writing (in Dutch). Very good condition but for the back cover being nearly detached--cleanly torn along the fold/staple binding.
