Alexandre Serebriakoff (1907–1995) was a celebrated French illustrator of Ukrainian origins, particularly known for his paintings of interiors. Together with his sister Ekaterina (Catherine) he managed to escape the bolshevik Russian terror and remained in Paris for the rest of his life. A largely self-trained artist, he predominantly worked in watercolour and gouache, producing highly realistic interiors in a traditional style. Serebriakoff became well-known as a specialist interior painter, specifically for his paintings of Paris' hôtels particuliers, painting Daisy Fellowes' rooms at the Paris Ritz in 1948 and the Parisian apartment of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Le Château de Groussay. During his lifetime the artist showed his work in numerous group exhibitions in France and Belgium. It is known that Alexandre's sister Catherine, who also worked as an interior painter, collaborated with her brother on many projects, however, her signature often does not appear on the artworks, as she preferred Alexandre to sign the paintings himself.
