Working under the name Tarraway Hoofpress, Tamsyn creates lino prints that delve into the strange and storied worlds of folklore, devilry, and eccentric tradition. Her work draws on Cornish legends, mischievous spirits, and old tales, weaving them into bold, hand-pressed prints.
The name “Tarraway” nods to a Rumplestiltskin-like Cornish devil from an old guise play, while “Hoofpress” imagines a cloven-footed imp stamping out prints—though in truth, she uses a humble spoon. With a love for role reversals, festive misrule, and peculiar clergy, Tamsyn’s work celebrates the uncanny and the forgotten, especially the rich, tangled history of Cornwall.
