A modern take on ancient Korean flavors
SUCRE (쑥크레) is a name that combines the French word sucre (meaning "sweet") with the Korean herb ssuk (mugwort), capturing the perfect harmony of sweetness and herbal depth in this unique rice wine.
Sucre is a premium unpasteurized makgeolli brewed with young Korean mugwort and rice. Mugwort is a traditional Korean herb that grows in spring and is known for its warm, earthy aroma and subtle bitterness. By using only tender young shoots, Sucre softens the intensity of the herb and brings out a delicate, refreshing character that even first-time drinkers can enjoy.
A reinterpretation of the traditional "Aeju" (mugwort liquor) found in historical texts, Sucre features a smooth, creamy body with soft herbal notes and a balanced sweetness. It is naturally fermented and aged for 100 days using the traditional two-stage “Iyangju” brewing method, resulting in a clean yet complex flavor with an elegant finish.
Its minimal label design reflects the refined, modern spirit of this ancient-inspired drink. Best enjoyed chilled, as an aperitif or paired with light, savory dishes.
