SUICIDE is a New York band known as one of the leading figures of proto-punk. Despite their underground existence, their masterpiece and shocking work "SUICIDE," which has greatly influenced indie rock, industrial music, techno, noise, goth, synth pop, electro, etc., has been revived with the latest remastering! Also released on analog LP at the same time! Formed in the early 1970s by Alan Vega and Martin Lev, the New York band Suicide shocked the music scene with their minimalist synth/electric sound using synths and early drum machines. Their debut album is their masterpiece. Now their debut album is back with the latest remastered soundtrack! Suicide was gaining a reputation for their challenging live performances at venues such as CBGB and Max's Kansas City in New York City at a time when the punk scene was on the rise with the Ramones, Patti Smith, and TELEVISION.The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1977, was avant-garde and underground in style, with cool vocals that sometimes mixed with spoken words and shouts over a minimal synth sound that ran on the beat. When the album was released, it was controversial. They did not have a sound or style that would be accepted by the mainstream, but their impact on the scene was immeasurable. Their minimalist synth sounds and beats influenced many of the synth-pop bands that emerged after the 1980s, and their aggressive performances were carried over into punk. Not only that, but the seeds they planted sprouted in a wide range of genres, including indie rock, industrial music, techno, noise, goth, synth pop, and electro. In fact, Nick Cave, M.I.A., Jason Pierce (Specimen 3, Spiritualized), Bobby Gillespie, and Savages have all professed to be their fans or influences.Suicide's debut album, selected as one of Rolling Stone's 500 Best Albums of All Time, has been reissued more than 40 years after its release in the latest remastered edition. The sound on this reissue has been remastered by Denis Blackham of Skye Mastering. The booklet includes liner notes by John Dolan of The Quietus, a music/culture website, on Suicide's impact on the scene in terms of "era," "key figures," "songwriting," "production," "impact," and "legacy. Liner notes are included, along with rare photos from the period." SUICIDE was once described as "a band that will forever be playing sounds from the future," and the genes they left behind are still being passed on to other bands today.
