Bob Dylan
Description:
Proof that Dylan is still Dylan. This latest album is his first new album with new songs since winning the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, and his first new album with original songs in eight years, since "Tempest," released in 2012! In recent years, there have been three studio albums in a row of cover works that could be called Great American Songbook, which was primarily Frank Sinatra's repertoire. The current album, "Rough & Rowdy Ways," was recorded with the touring band members at the end of last year, and is the 39th studio album. The title evokes the 1960 release "My Rough And Rowdy Ways" by Jimmy Rogers, one of the originators of American popular music. Although he was known as the "father of country," Jimmy continued to make music with a flexibility that went far beyond the boundaries of country and became a pioneer of American pop music. The title is typical of Dylan, who had covered Jimmie Rodgers' songs before his debut. The opening track, "I Contain Multitude," is one of the ten Dylan songs that are interspersed with a variety of musical elements.
