The latest song, "Vision Thing," released with the album information, is a euphoric song bursting with pounding drums, wave-like synthesizers, and Charlie Burchill's unmistakable guitar. The song, written by Charlie and lyrics by frontman Jim Carr, is dedicated to Jim's "best pal" and late father, who passed away in 2019. The song is also the opening track on this album and forms a solid base for the entire album that follows. Most of the songs on DIRECTION OF THE HEART were written and demoed in Sicily, where Jim and Charlie live. The album was recorded at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, Germany, as they were not allowed to enter the UK due to quarantine. The album was co-produced by Andy Wright (Massive Attack, Echo & the Bunnymen) and Gavin Goldberg (Simply Red, KT Tunstall).Band members bassist Jed Grimes (who co-wrote two of the new songs, "First You Jump" and "Solstice Kiss"), drummer Sherese Osei, and vocalist Sarah Brown participated on several of the songs and recorded their parts separately in London on The band recorded their parts separately in London.
