Deep ruby red colour. It has a complex and pleasant bouquet, in which fruity notes, particularly of cherry and plum, join with nuances of vanilla, coffee and tobacco. Open, balanced and fresh palate. Excellent persistence.

It is capable of perfectly uniting the elegance and structure of Sangiovese, with a fresh immediacy, making it more versatile and easy to drink than most others. Castello Banfi's Rosso di Montalcino DOC spends at least ten months ageing, part in barriques and part in large barrels. It is completed with at least six months' bottle ageing. It also offers a fair range of opportunities for drinking.

It can also be sipped throughout a meal, with complete menus, avoiding fish. Excellent with risotto featuring meat.
